Scott I. Smith, 52, of Decatur, passed away on Thursday, June 17, 2021, at Visiting Nurse Hospice Home in Fort Wayne. He was born in Lawrenceburg, IN, on May 12, 1969, the son of Judy A. (Smith) Clements. On May 7, 2009, he married April D. Lehman in Gatlinburg, TN.
He had attended The Bridge Community Church North Campus, where he played guitar on the worship team and was currently attending Salem Magley Church. A special moment in his life was July 10, 2011, the day he was baptized.
Scott graduated from Bellmont High School in 1989, received his Bachelors of Integrated Supply Chain and Operations Management, Parts Warehousing and Inventory Management Operations. He worked as an inventory analyst/warehouse manager at Schwan’s Frozen Foods for 15 years, D&W Fine Pack in Fort Wayne for 8 years and was currently working in Ossian, at T.I. Fluid Systems.
He was an assistant coach for the Monroe Youth League and a supporter of Adams County 4-H and Girl Scout Troop 50632.
Scott was an avid fan of the Cincinnati Reds and a golf enthusiast. In recent years, he enjoyed their hobby farm and could always be found on his John Deere.
He is survived by his wife of 12 years, April Smith of Decatur; his mother, Judy A. Clements of Decatur; his in-laws, Don A. and Jerri (Holloway) Lehman of Craigville, IN; 3 children, Corporal Randal J. Smith of Decatur, Rebecka A. (Bryce) Leming of Sweetser, IN, Bristol A. Smith of Decatur.
Visitation will be from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 23, 2021, at Haggard-Sefton-Hirschy & Zelt Funeral Home. Please honor Scott by dressing casual and either wearing the color red for the Reds or your favorite baseball attire.
A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 24, 2021, at Salem Magley Church, with visitation a half hour before from 10:00 – 10:30 a.m. Rev. Chris Hirschy will be officiating and burial will immediately follow in Prairie View Cemetery.
