Mary Jane Brunner, 93, of Decatur, IN, passed away on Thursday, April 1, 2021, at Adams Woodcrest. She was born in Tillman, IN, on April 16, 1927, the daughter of the late Harold J. and Mildred M. (Davis) VanHorn. On June 7, 1952, she married Clarence H. Brunner, he preceded her in death on April 6, 1997.
She was a member of Zion United Church of Christ and was a volunteer at Adams Woodcrest for 24 years.
Mary was a homemaker and also worked at the Pioneer Restaurant and the Decatur Daily Democrat.
She is survived by 4 daughters, Ruth (Jack) Green of Decatur, Darlene (Steven Nussbaum) Brunner of Tarzana, CA, Marie Filips and Karen Brunner both of Decatur; 4 grandchildren, Joseph (Brandy) Vergara of Berne, Melanie (Adam) Miller and Ryan Green both of Decatur, Erin Green of Fort Wayne; 14 great grandchildren.
Mary was also preceded in death by a daughter, Norma Jean in infancy; a brother, James VanHorn Sr.; a sister, Julia Rose Mullen; a sister-in-law, Della Brunner; a son-in-law, Fred J. Filips.
A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, April 3, 2021, at The Decatur Cemetery, with Chaplain Mike Wertenberger officiating. A livestream of the service will be available through our website at the bottom of Mary’s obituary.
