Donald L. Welch, 67, of Monroe, Indiana passed away peacefully Thursday afternoon, October 14, 2021. He was born on the 1st of November in 1953 in Bluffton, Ohio to the late Rev. Robert Welch and Helen Wittwer.
He graduated from Adams Central in 1972, followed his father and brothers at the then Central Soya, from which he retired as a Control Room Operator at Bunge.
Don married the love of his life, Brenda Sheets, on his birthday in 2014 at the Ceylon Covered Bridge in Wabash Twps., Adams Co. He was a lover of family history and history in general.
He had a love for automobiles and collectables, spent time on restoring cars (which he rode in the Decatur Callithumpian Parade) and was a former member of the Antique Auto Club.
With his marriage to Brenda, he also gained a loving family which he adored. Don is survived by his wife, Brenda Welch of Monroe; two daughters, Deedra (Braxton) Bercot of Berne, Emily (Salvador) Arteaga of Decatur; a son, Rob (Adellyn McPheron) Farber of Yukon, OK; a brother, James “Jim” (MaryLynn) Welch of Decatur; four grandchildren, Ethan & Chloe Bercot, Lillian & Lorenzo Arteaga; a niece, Aminda Welch; four nephews, Jason, Lucas, Tom Welch, and Bill Hanaway.
Don was preceded in death by two brothers, Reginald “Reg” T. and Richard Welch.
Visitation will be from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Monday, October 18, 2021, at Haggard-Sefton-Hirschy & Zelt Funeral Home.
A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 19, 2021, at Haggard-Sefton-Hirschy & Zelt Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to Riley Children’s Hospital.
