Margaret R. Moeller, 88, of Decatur, passed away Friday, August 9, 2019 at Christian Care Retirement Community in Bluffton, where she has been living for 3 years. Margaret was born in Covington, KY on December 13, 1930, to the late Bernard J. and Viola (Kappes) Bilz. On April 28, 1956, she married Robert C. Moeller; he preceded her in death on January 5, 2008.
She was a parishioner of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church and a member of its Rosary Society. She taught for St. Joseph Catholic School for 28 years and retired in 1998.
Margaret was very devout in her faith. She was a scholar, a lifetime learner, and she enjoyed helping her grandchildren with their homework. Margaret loved spending time with her family. She liked going to garage sales, cooking her family’s favorite meals, eating chocolate, and playing Rack-O, Scrabble, and Mah-Jong at all hours of the night. She always made sure everyone’s bellies were full, and they had enough blankets. While she was not known for her driving skills, she had an incredible, kooky sense of humor.
Margaret is survived by her 4 children, Donna (Craig) Cortright of Bluffton, Jeffrey (Lida) Moeller of Rochester, IN, Elaine (Todd) Fellers of Edmond, OK and Steven (Penny) Moeller of Decatur; a brother, Bernard (Deanna) Bilz of Ft. Thomas, KY; 2 sisters, Frances Potter of Milan, TN and Elizabeth Bilz of Erlanger, KY; 12 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Cook.
Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 13, 2019 at Haggard-Sefton-Hirschy & Zelt Funeral Home, with a reciting of the Holy Rosary at 3:30 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 14, 2019 at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, with calling prior from 9:00-10:00 a.m. in the St. Mary’s Parish Hall. Father David Violi will be officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
