Joseph R. Jauregui, 86, of Decatur, IN, passed away on Saturday, September 28, 2019. He was born on January 6, 1933, in Berne, IN, the son of the late Emmanuel and Antonia (Ortiz) Jauregui. On September 15, 1954, he married Maxine T. Elliott and after 60 years she preceded him in death on October 23, 2014.
He was a parishioner of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic. He was a member of the Holy Name Society and the Knights of Columbus Msgr. J.J. Seimetz Council 864. He served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War and was a member of the American Legion Post 43.
Joe worked for American Hoist for 33 ½ years, retiring in 1982; he then worked for Adams Memorial Hospital for a decade.
He is survived by 3 sons, Rick A. (Nan) Jauregui, Steve E. (Kathy) Jauregui, and Matthew E. (Becky) Jauregui; 2 daughters, Denise M. (Dennis) Johnson and Linda J. (Tony) Beer, all of Decatur; a sister, Angela (Luke) Beitler of Decatur; 12 grandchildren & 5 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Joan Calderon and a brother, Salvador Jauregui.
A Private Funeral Liturgy was held at Haggard-Sefton-Hirschy & Zelt Funeral Home and Father David Ruppert officiated. Inurnment took place in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
