Jean E. (Strahm) Hildebrand, 94, of Decatur, IN, passed away on Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at Adams Woodcrest. She was born on September 24, 1923 in Adams County, IN, the daughter of the late Walter and Pearl (Strickler) Oliver. On October 11, 1947 she first married Harold E. Strahm and he preceded her in death on October 27, 1981. Then she married Carl Hildebrand on August 2, 1986 and he also preceded her in death on September 7, 2010.
She was a member of Zion United Church of Christ, where she served on the Women’s Guild. She retired from GE in Ft. Wayne and worked as a homemaker. Jean was also a member of the Elex Club in Ft. Wayne.
Jean is survived by her son, Terry (Kathy) Strahm of Indianapolis; 2 daughters, Donna (Malcolm) Miesse of Decatur and Debra Harman of New Haven; 2 step sons, Rev. Steve (Sandy) Hildebrand of Decatur and Thomas Hildebrand of Bluffton; a step daughter, Carolyn (Terry) Brendel of Valparaiso; 7 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, 1 great granddaughter on-the-way, 3 step grandchildren, and 6 step great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Dan Harman, a granddaughter, Julia Ann Harman, a great granddaughter, McKenna Lyn Corbin, 2 brothers, Franklin and Fredrick Oliver and 2 sisters, Joan Workinger and Janice Hamrick.
Visitation will be from 12:00 – 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, June, 17, 2018 at Haggard-Sefton-Hirschy & Zelt Funeral Home.
A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, June 18, 2018 at Haggard-Sefton-Hirschy & Zelt Funeral Home, with calling 1 hour prior to the service from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. Officiating will be The Rev. Randy Rossman and burial will take place in the Decatur Cemetery.
