Bonnie Jane Taylor
On Monday, January 6, 2020, Bonnie Taylor, loving wife and mother of three children, passed away at the age of 95. Bonnie was born on October 15, 1924, in Detroit, Michigan, to Virgil and Luella (Anderson) Harris. On May 11, 1953 she married George C. Taylor. She became a loving mother to Roy Taylor, and then together they raised three more children, sons Jeffrey and David, and daughter, Leslie.
She was a woman of great faith, a homemaker, a church builder, a musician, and a teacher. Bonnie loved the church and devoted her life to its ministry. As a team, she and her husband evangelized, and then founded the First United Pentecostal Church of Elgin (now Jubilee Christian Center) where they served for twenty years. Later in life, one of her great joys was singing in the Gospel Choir, Pentecostals of Chicago. With them she traveled the world doing what she loved best, worshiping and witnessing in song.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, George, her son, Roy, and her grandson, Geron.
She is survived by her three children, Jeff (Brenda) Taylor, David (Kathleen) Taylor, Leslie (Jeff) Carlson, twelve grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.
A celebration of her faith and her life will be held Saturday, May 16, 2020, at Jubilee Christian Center, 677 Luda Street, Elgin, IL, at 11:00 AM. Memorial donations may be made to Jubilee Christian Center for its ongoing ministry.
