Ted L. Tumbleson, 72, of Ohio City, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, April 25, 2021, at his residence. He was born in Decatur, Indiana on October 20, 1948, the son of the late F.H. and the late Inez R. (Imler) Tumbleson. He married Nancy Beam, on May 13, 1972, at St. Mark’s Methodist Church in Decatur.
He honorably served his country during the Vietnam War. During his time in the Military, he was a part of the 199th Light Infantry Bargrade (Redcatchers) from 1968-1970. Ted was very proud of his service and was honorably discharged as a Sergeant in 1970.
Ted was a member of Praise Point Church in Willshire, Ohio. Ted started working at G.E. in Decatur starting in 1966 till G.E.’s closing in 1989. Then from 1991-2014, he worked as a RAD-Tech at St. Joe Hospital, in Fort Wayne. He began as a volunteer firefighter in 1973 for Wren and served as the Fire Chief for the Fire Department for over 20 years. He also served as the Wren EMS Chief for 7 years. In addition, he taught for over 15 years, at Vantage Career Center Basic EMT Training.
He loved and cherished spending time with his family. He was very proud of his grandchildren and would light up when spending time with them. Ted found joy in teaching his family to water ski and spending time at the lake. Ted and Nancy enjoyed traveling and experiencing many different landscapes and scenery over the years.
Ted is survived by his wife of 48 years, Nancy Tumbleson of Ohio City, Ohio; a son, Matt (Catherine) Tumbleson of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; a brother, Harold Allen “John” (Judy) Tumbleson of Wren, Ohio; five grandchildren, Reece, Crystian, Alax, Keaton and Riley.
He was preceded in death by his son, Kevin Eugene Tumbleson; and a brother, Larry Tumbleson.
A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 29, 2021, at Praise Point Church in Willshire, Ohio. Pastor Brad Kittle will be officiating and burial will immediately follow in Mt. Tabor Cemetery with military honors being rendered by the American Legion Post #43.
The family will receive friends from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 5:00-8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 28, at Praise Point Church and also one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.
