Robert H. Lehrman, 90, of rural Decatur, IN, passed away on Wednesday, August 11, 2021, at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne. He was born on his farm in Adams County, IN, on July 25, 1931, the son of the late Harry C. and Ruth E. (Schlemmer) Lehrman. On June 8, 1952, he married Marilyn R. Fuelling and she preceded him in death on November 17, 1979.
He was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church, Fuelling and graduated from Decatur High School. He served his country as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany. Robert retired in 1986 from International Harvester after 35 years.
After retirement, Robert farmed full time and performed all types of maintenance jobs at St. Peter-Immanuel Lutheran School, to which he had donated land for the school to be built. Robert loved farming and enjoyed his time with the children that attended the school for a span of over 20 years.
He is survived by his daughter, Vickie (Jim) Hammond of Decatur; five sons, Bob (Kelly) Lehrman of O’Fallon, IL, Perry (Ramona) Lehrman, Randy (Renea Wills) Lehrman, Joel (Isabelle) Lehrman all of Decatur, Jon (Danielle Payne) Lehrman of Ft. Wayne; 12 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren.
Robert was also preceded in death by a brother, Hank Lehrman and a sister, Betty Lake.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 17, 2021 at Haggard-Sefton-Hirschy & Zelt Funeral Home, with visitation 2 hours prior from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. Pastor Leonard Tanksley will be officiating and burial will immediately follow in the St. Peter Lutheran Church Cemetery. Military Graveside Rites will be conducted by the American Legion Post 43.
