Obituary

Michelle L. Heck James, 57, of Fort Wayne, IN passed away on Sunday, April 10, 2022, at Kingston Residential, after a battle with cancer. She was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana, on July 7, 1964, the daughter of Donald and Geraldine (Schultz) Heck.

Michelle went on to receive her Associates Degree in Nursing, from Purdue University. She worked as a Registered Nurse, in Fort Wayne, at Super Shot for 23 years, where she loved taking care of the babies and making the procedures go as quickly as possible. Michelle was often recognized in public as “The Shot Lady.” Prior to that, she worked at Lutheran Hospital in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit for 10 years. She would say, "I'm going to tell you that I love my job. That sounds really sad because I come in and make your kids cry, but I love my job. I feel like I'm making them better, I'm helping them stay healthy as opposed to playing catch-up to get them better from being sick."

She is survived by her mother, Geraldine Matheny of Ossian; her husband, Randall James of Fort Wayne; a daughter, Eryn Tatyana James of Fort Wayne; a step daughter, Mackenzie Ryan; sisters, Christine (Dan) Camp of Fort Wayne, Sherri (Darren) Will of Roanoke, Melissa (Tom) Heine of Indianapolis, Vikki Bobay of New Haven; a sister-in-law, Debra Heck Anderson of Syracuse; a step sister, Lisa (Gordon) Brown of Florida; nieces and nephews, Jennifer Temple, Joni Darrah, Bryan Heine, Andrea Donahue, Kyle Will, Courtney Will, Taylor Jacobs, Eryka Bobay and Claire Bobay.
