Michael G. Cook, 69, of Decatur, IN, passed away on Saturday, April 3, 2021, at Hospice Home in Fort Wayne. He was born in Adams County, IN, on July 24, 1951, the son of the late Gerald F. and Marcella L. “Sally” (Scherry) Cook. On August 7, 1994, he married Naomi Lash.
He was a member of Decatur Church of God and had served on the Board of Elders. Michael loved his church family, enjoyed Promise Keepers and seeing men worship. He was also a greeter at church and was devoted to spending time visiting shut-ins.
Michael attended International Business College, after graduating high school, and he also went to Reppert School of Auctioneering. Michael was a lifelong farmer and also worked for National Oil & Gas for 32 years, delivering fuel.
He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Naomi (Lash) Cook of Decatur; a son, Shawn (Andrea) Cook of Indianapolis, IN; a daughter, Jacie (Derek) Miller of Indianapolis, IN; a step daughter, Cheryl (Greg) Hill of Powell, TN; a step son, Kent (Zirada) Rust of Westfield, IN; a sister, Susan (Roy) Wells of Hartford City; 2 grandchildren; 7 step grandchildren.
Michael was preceded in death by 2 brothers, twins in infancy, Terry and Larry.
Visitation will be from 2:00 - 7:00 pm on Wednesday, April 7, 2021, at Haggard-Sefton-Hirschy & Zelt Funeral Home.
A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 am on Thursday, April 8, 2021, at Decatur Church of God, with one hour visitation prior to the service. Pastor Don Smith will be officiating.
