Merv Parrish, 76, of Decatur, Indiana passed away on Sunday, June 20, 2021, at his residence. He was born in Decatur, Indiana, on September 23, 1944, the son of late Lee and Helen (Ray) Parrish. On December 14, 1967, he married Sherry A. Nern.
Merv obtained the rank of Sergeant while honorably serving his country during the Vietnam War in the United States Marine Corp.
He was a member of the Moose Lodge #1311, American Legion Post # 43, Eagles Lodge and V.F.W.
Merv enjoyed riding his motorcycle, boating in Florida and above all cherished spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Sherry Parrish of Decatur, Indiana; three daughters, Susan (Bill) Rauner of Hoagland, Indiana, Kristina (Brian) Chester of Decatur, Indiana, Deborah (Gregory) Bangert of Fort Wayne, Indiana; seven grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 24, 2021, at Haggard-Sefton-Hirschy & Zelt Funeral Home.
A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, June 25, 2021, at Haggard-Sefton-Hirschy & Zelt Funeral Home with Pastor Scott Jester officiating. Burial will follow at Decatur Cemetery with Military Honors rendered by the American Legion Post # 43.
Memorials may be made to American Legion Post #43 Color guard.
