Marjorie P. Shell, 85, of Decatur, IN passed away on Wednesday, June 30, 2021 at her daughter’s residence in Fort Wayne. Marjorie was born in Decatur on September 3, 1935 to the late Henry A. and Rose M. (Geels) Heimann. On August 13, 1955 she married Richard P. Shell and he preceded her in death on March 19, 1998.
She was a lifelong parishioner of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church and was a 1953 graduate of Decatur Catholic High School. She was a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Society and for many years helped with funeral dinners at the church.
Marjorie supported the Franciscan Brothers Minor, who lived and had a chapel on her property for several years. She retired from United Telephone in Decatur after 35 years of service.
She is survived by a daughter, Patrice M. (Jay) Fox of Fort Wayne, IN; 4 grandchildren, Katie (Evan) Fritz, Jaylyn Fox, Michael Killen and Meaghan (Corey) Caliste. Marjorie was preceded in death by two brothers, Eugene and Cletus Heimann and a sister, Vera Ahne.
Visitation will be from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 6, 2021 at Haggard-Sefton-Hirschy & Zelt Funeral Home, with reciting of the Holy Rosary at 4:30 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 7, 2021 in St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, with calling 1 hour prior from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. in the St. Mary’s Parish Hall. Father David Ruppert will be presiding and burial will immediately follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to St. Mary’s Church Air Conditioner Fund.
