Kevin C. O’Shaughnessey, 68, of Decatur, IN passed away at his residence on Friday, July 24, 2020. He was born in Decatur, IN on January 28, 1952, the son of the late Charles L. and Florence L (Meyer) O’Shaughnessey. On September 15, 1972, Kevin married Dianne L. Spiegel.
He was a lifelong parishioner of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church. He was a graduate of St. Joseph Catholic School and Bellmont High School Class of 1970.
Kevin worked as a custodian for North Adams Community Schools for 23 years, retiring in 2017. He was a skilled carpenter and worked on various construction jobs throughout his life. He served as a Reserve Deputy for 15 years for the Adams County Sheriff’s Department
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Dianne O’Shaughnessey; his son, Daniel C. O’Shaughnessey; his daughter, Maureen A. (Shaun) Miller all of Decatur; 2 sisters, Sharon (William) Younker of Iowa City, IA and Nancy Johnson of Ft. Wayne; 4 grandchildren, Nevin and Dayna Miller; Isabel and Flynn O’Shaughnessey.
Kevin was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Steven Spiegel.
Visitation will be from 3:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Monday, July 27, 2020 at Haggard-Sefton-Hirschy & Zelt Funeral Home, with a reciting of the Holy Rosary at 2:30 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 28, 2020 at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, with Father David Ruppert presiding.
Burial will take place in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery at a later date.
Memorials may be given to Feed the Children or ACCF Kevin C. O’Shaughnessey Fund.
