John H. Parrish

December 2, 1930 ~ September 22, 2021 (age 90)


John H. Parrish, age 90, went to be with his Lord on September 22, 2021. He was born on December 2, 1930 to the late Kenneth and Genevieve (Walters) Parrish. Siblings Nancy Ward preceded him in death. One brother, Kenneth D. Parrish, survives.

Mr. Parrish is survived by his wife, the love of his life, Patricia (Reed), and five children: Sandra Parrish, Candice Bauman, Cindy Fruechte, Susan Tonner, and John Parrish Jr. He leaves behind 7 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. 1 Deceased grandchild and 1 deceased great grandchild.

John enlisted in the United States Air Force on November 15, 1951. In 1952 he married his sweetheart, Patricia Reed. John Parrish worked in aircraft electronics. During his tour of duty, John and his family traveled worldwide, including Germany and France. Hahn Air Force Base, Germany, was one of his favorite tours. John also served in the Viet Nam War. With a 20-year military career, John Parrish retired as Master Sergeant on December 1, 1971 in Lubbock, Texas. After his military career retirement, John also worked and retired from Bunge (Central Soya), Decatur, Indiana.

John Parrish’s first love was his wife and second love, Oliver Tractors, especially his Oliver 88. John loved working on and collecting Oliver tractors in addition to being a dedicated member of the “Oliver Gang”.

John Parrish faithfully read his bible daily and up to the time of his passing was an avid reader of many books.

A celebration of John’s life will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 25, 2021, for Family and Extended Family at Haggard-Sefton-Hirschy & Zelt Funeral Home with Pastor Jim Schwartz officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Saturday. Masks are requested to be worn.
