Obituary

Evelyn J. “Joan” Hitchcock, 92, of Decatur, entered into the presence of her Heavenly Father on Thursday, February 4, 2021, at Woodcrest Nursing Home in Decatur, IN. She was born in Fort Wayne, on October 28, 1928, the daughter of the late Ira and Ora (Click) Bodle. On August 31, 1945, she married Eugene R. Hitchcock, he preceded her in death on September 9, 1990.

She was a homemaker and member of Bobo United Brethren Church. Joan also volunteered at Adams Memorial Hospital, was a member of Women of the Moose and was a recorder of the American Legion Auxiliary.

Joan is survived by 3 sons, Dave (Barb) Hitchcock, Bill (Darlene) Hitchcock and Jim (Rita) Hitchcock all of Decatur; 2 daughters, Karen Hitchcock of Ossian and Nancy Ross of Decatur; 13 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ira and Ora (Click) Bodle; 2 daughters, Cathie and Deanne Hitchcock; 4 brothers, Walter, Odes, Raymond and Wayne Bodle.

A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 pm on Monday, February 8, 2021, at Haggard-Sefton-Hirschy & Zelt Funeral Home, with visitation from 10:00 am – 1:00 pm before the service.

Pastor Ernie Suman will be officiating and burial will immediately follow in Clarks Chapel Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Bobo United Brethren Church.
