Rev. Doug Johnson, 60, previously of Fort Wayne, went to be with his Savior, Jesus, on Monday, August 2, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Doug worked for many years for his father and uncle as a Sheet Metal Journeyman. Following graduation from Taylor University (2004), Doug worked for the Rescue Mission, serving as Chaplain in 2010-11. The past 10 years he served as one of the ministers at International Gospel Center in Tulsa.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Sandy Buckles Johnson, along with his parents, Ronald and Shirley (Zelt) Johnson (Johnson City, TN) and three sisters: Tammie (Rob) Hooker (Fort Wayne, IN), Lisa (Mark) Howe (Wolcottville, IN) and Teresa (Richard) Ignace (Johnson City, TN). He also leaves behind many beloved uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews.
Celebration of Life service will take place at New Covenant Worship Center, 3420 E Paulding Rd., Fort Wayne, Indiana on Saturday, October 9 at 2:00 pm., with visitation beginning at 1:00 pm. Donations in memory of Doug can be given to International Gospel Center – designated to the children and youth’s Thrive Center - at igcenter.org.
