Diane Amstutz, 72, Berne, Indiana, passed away February 18, 2022 at Swiss Village, Berne. She was born to Claude and Viola (Habegger) Dennison on February 15, 1950 in Decatur, Indiana, and married J. Steven Amstutz on October 25, 1969.
Diane was a member of First Missionary Church where she started and lead the Sunbeams ministry for one-year-old children. Diane, along with many dedicated helpers over the years, shared the love of Christ with hundreds of children. It was her passion for 34 years. Her legacy will live on through this special ministry.
Diane’s love for children extended into her many years of volunteering for the elementary library at Adams Central Community Schools. She was later employed as a library assistant for both the middle and high school at Adams Central for 27 and a half years until she retired in 2017. In her spare time, she enjoyed flowers, gardening, and spending time with her family and friends.
Diane is survived by her husband of 52 years, J. Steven Amstutz and two sons; Jeffrey Amstutz (Chad Hershner, husband) of Appleton, WI; and Bradley (Lana Wulliman) Amstutz of Oregonia, OH; and two grandchildren; Ethan and Carter Amstutz; and special mention Abby and Josiah Hershner. She is also survived by two sisters and one brother; Edith (Neill) von Gunten of Winnipeg, Canada; Arlene (Harry) Nicodemus of Berne; James (Janet Teeple) Dennison of Berne.
Diane is preceded in death by her parents, Claude & Viola Dennison.
Visitation will be Tuesday, February 22 from 3:00 – 8:00 p.m. in the sanctuary of First Missionary Church, Berne.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday, February 23, 2022 at 10:30 a.m., First Missionary Church, Berne, with visitation one hour prior to service. Officiating pastors are Jim Schwartz and Rick Schwartz. Burial will be in MRE Cemetery, Berne.
