Obituary

Carl “Cocky” William Faurote, 93, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 6, 2022.  He was born on October 17, 1928 to the late John Henry and Mary (Braun) Faurote. On August 22,1958 he married Sunya Gay Stuckey and was happily married for 62 years until her passing in 2020.

Carl loved his family first and foremost but was also a very religious man, attending Mass daily and had a very special love of praying the rosary, and he was a lifelong parishioner of St. Mary of the Assumption Church.  He instilled those family, and Christian values, traditions and unconditional love in his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He loved the family dinners on Sunday and the holidays filled with family, laughter, love and joy. You could often find Carl in the stands cheering loudly for all his children and grandchildren’s sporting events and was a big Bellmont Wrestling fan.  He was also a member of the American Legion Post 43 and Knights of Columbus Council 864.

Carl proudly served his country in the US Air Force (1951-1955) and was a veteran of the Korean War. After returning home he started his own business, Carl Faurote Radiator Service. For over 50 years, he happily worked on cars and loved interacting with his customers.  Carl was known for his smile, sense of humor, and wittiness, hence his nickname Cocky that was given to him as a young teen. He was a jack of all trades and was always tinkering around creating some gadget or invention.

His wife, Sunya Faurote, preceded him in death. He is survived by his 4 children and their spouses, Gary and Monica (Segall) Faurote of Carmel, Karla (Faurote) and Doug Hormann of Decatur, Brent (BJ) and Renee (Smelser) Faurote of Decatur, and Greta (Faurote) and John Lytle of Kokomo; 9 grandchildren and spouses, Dustin and Tara (Warner) Hormann, Taylor Hormann, Carlin and Sherice (Fleming) Hormann, Hailee Hormann, Kaylee (Faurote) and Brent Wiedemann, Brooks and Alexa (Singleton) Faurote, Justin, Elizabeth and Ethan Lytle; and 8 great grandchildren, Breylan, Presley and Sutton Hormann, Beckham, McKenna and Kinsley Wiedemann, Callahan Hormann, and baby brother arriving in February and Zane Faurote.
