Brandon J. Bentz, 31, of Decatur, passed away on Wednesday, September 29, 2021 at his residence. He was born in Decatur, on September 19, 1990, the son of James A. “Tony” Bentz and Jana M. (Geimer) Walchle.
He was a Bellmont High School graduate, Class of 2009 and had attended IPFW. He was a parishioner at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church.
Brandon was currently working at Bunge, where he had been employed for the last 3 years, prior to that he had worked at Siberline and Peytons.
He was a lover of music, especially the band Rush and enjoyed getting out his guitar and playing for others or himself. He was an avid sports fan and greatly loved the Minnesota Vikings, Detroit Tigers, Anaheim Ducks, and the Fort Wayne Komets.
He is survived by his mother, Jana M. Walchle and stepfather, Tim Walchle both of Decatur; a sister, Heather M. (Ben) Fairchild of Decatur; a stepbrother, Jason Walchle of Point Pleasant, SC; a stepsister, Heather Turkay of Key Largo, FL; 2 nephews, Easton Hackman and Truett Fairchild; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Brandon was preceded in death by a sister, Natasha E. Bentz; father, James A. “Tony” Bentz, and a brother, Mattheu A. Walchle.
Visitation will be 2:00 – 6:00 p.m. Sunday, October 3, 2021, at Haggard-Sefton-Hirschy & Zelt Funeral Home.
A Funeral Liturgy will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 4, 2021, at Haggard-Sefton-Hirschy & Zelt Funeral Home. Father David Ruppert will be presiding and burial will immediately follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Riley Children’s Hospital.
