William H. MansfieldAugust 11, 1927 ~ November 22, 2017 (age 90)
William H. Mansfield, of Lake James, Fremont, IN, formerly of Decatur, IN, passed away on Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at St. Elizabeth Healthcare in Edgewood, KY. He was born on August 11, 1927, the son of the late Richard and Lucille Mansfield. On January 6, 1953, he married Patricia L. Appelman and after 58 years together she preceded him in death on February 1, 2011.
He was a parishioner of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Decatur. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Msgr. J.J. Seimetz Council 864 and its 4th Degree Assembly 257. He was also a member of the Moose Lodge 1311.
Bill served his country in the U.S. Navy. He worked as a boat salesman for Starcraft Marine.
He is survived by 4 sons, Scott Mansfield of Las Molinos, CA, Mark (Lynne) Mansfield of Everett, WA, Mike (Lisa) Mansfield of Marysville, OH, and Brett (Aby) Mansfield of Orlando, FL; a daughter, Kelly Jo Everett of Burlington, KY; 11 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
Bill was preceded in death by 2 children, Lynne Marie and Anthony Joseph Mansfield, a son-in-law, Chad Everett, and 2 brothers, Dick Mansfield and Don Mansfield.
Visitation will be from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Friday, December, 1, 2017 at Haggard-Sefton & Hirschy Funeral Home. K of C 4th Degree Honor Guard will post from 5:00 - 6:00 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday December 2, 2017 at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, with visitation 1 hour prior to service from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. in the St. Mary’s Parish Hall. Military Rites will be conducted by the American Legion Post 43 Color Guard and burial will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery at a later date.
Memorials may be made to Honor Flight Northeast Indiana or to St. Joseph Catholic School.
