Pauline N. August, 100, of Decatur, IN, passed away on Thursday, July 4, 2019 at Adams Woodcrest. She was born on September 10, 1918 in Adams County, IN, the daughter of the late Clarence and Emma (Egly) McKean. On January 14, 1940, she married Robert L. August and after 42 years together he preceded her in death on February 14, 1982.
She was a member of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church. Pauline worked as a homemaker and also owned and operated many truck stops along with her late husband.
Pauline is survived by her daughter, Diana Cook of Decatur; daughter-in-law, Carol (Eaton) August of Tucson, AZ; 5 grandchildren, 3 step grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandson (due Sept. 2019).
She was preceded in death by her son, Ron August on January 21, 1988; a sister, Lucille Burke; a step brother, Floyd Barkley; a step sister, Fayma Fensler; a son-in-law, Gary Cook; a great grandson, Corey Gibson; a granddaughter-in-law, Stacey Gibson Johnston.
A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 13, 2019, at Adams Woodcrest Porter Auditorium, with visitation 2 hours prior to the service from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Pastor Jeff Johnston and Pastor Ernie Suman will be officiating. Burial will take place in Covington Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Mark’s United Methodist Church Food Pantry or Heart to Heart Hospice.
