James “Jim” F. Snyder, 63, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, December 16, 2019, at his residence. He was born in Decatur, IN, on June 23, 1956, to William and Geraldine (Turner) Snyder.
He was a lifelong parishioner of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church and its Holy Name Society.
James was a well-known, self-employed artist. He also served his country in the United States Army.
He is survived by his mother, Geraldine (Turner) Snyder; four brothers, Bill (Judie) Snyder of Fort Wayne, John (Diana) Snyder of Decatur, Tom (Amy) Snyder of South Carolina and Mike (Sherry) Snyder of Kentucky; six sisters, Ginny (Dennis) Garwood of Decatur, Sue (Jerry) Harvey of Decatur, Barb (Mike) Meyer of Decatur, Kathy Harshman of Decatur, Cindi (Barry) Malone of Decatur and Debbie (Donny) Myers of Decatur; numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, William F. Snyder, in 1968.
Visitation will be from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Friday, December 20, 2019, at Haggard-Sefton-Hirschy & Zelt Funeral Home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 21, 2019, at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, with visitation 1 hour prior to the service from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. in the St. Mary’s Parish Hall. Father Dave Ruppert will be the celebrant and burial will take place in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, at a later date.
Memorials may be made to St. Vincent DePaul Society.
