Ireta M. Harmon, 101, of Decatur, Indiana passed away on April 16, 2018 at Evergreen Assisted Living. She was born in Adams County on May 23, 1916 to the late Noah and Lula (Shoaf) Egly. On October 12, 1940 she married Earl L. Harmon. He passed away on June 24, 1988.
She was a member of the St. Luke Church, Helping Hands of St. Luke (formerly known as Women’s Guild). She was a self-employed hairdresser, she was a great cook, loved to crochet, helping others and spending time with her loving family.
Ireta is survived by 1 daughter, Beth (Rick) Bonifas; 1 daughter-in-law, Elaine Harmon, both of Decatur; 4 grandchildren, Julie Bahrke, Sarah Weldy, Shelby Minnich and Seth Harmon; and 10 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by 1 son, Dean D. Harmon who passed away in 2001 and 2 sisters, Delores Joray and Milita Moeschberger.
Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 19, 2018 at the Haggard-Sefton-Hirschy & Zelt Funeral Home.
The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, April 20, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Luke Church, with visitation one hour prior from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Pastor Mike Wertenberger will be officiating. Burial will take place in the Decatur Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to Helping Hands at St. Luke or Family Hospice.
