Gerald J. Cook, 72, of Decatur, IN, passed away on Wednesday, May 8, 2019, at his residence. He was born in Decatur, IN, on September 15, 1946, the son of the late Lester R. and Margaret A. (Burgo) Cook.
He was a 1964 graduate of Monmouth High School. Gerald worked for G.E., retiring with over 30 years of service. He was a member of the Moose Lodge 1311, the Sons of the Legion Post 43, and the V.F.W.
Gerald was an avid fisherman and was a huge fan of the Indianapolis Colts. He enjoyed watching NASCAR and loved his grandchildren.
He is survived by his son, Mark J. (Carly Raymond) Cook of Decatur; a daughter, Laura L. Brazill of Ft. Wayne; a sister, Ethel “Toots” Bienz of Decatur; 8 grandchildren, Abbey (Jordon) Eicher, Katlyn, Madison, Alex, & Makenzie Cook and Alyssa, Austin, & Benjamin Eichhorn; a great grandchild, Mylah Eichhorn; 2 nieces, Vicki (Doug) Steffen and Cassy (Mark) Wallace.
Gerald was preceded in death by a sister, Esther Shelton and a nephew, Trent Shelton.
Visitation will be from 12:00 – 4:00 p.m. Saturday, May 11, 2019 at Haggard-Sefton-Hirschy & Zelt Funeral Home, with a Moose Memorial Service at 4:00 p.m.
A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, May 12, 2019 at Haggard-Sefton-Hirschy & Zelt Funeral Home, with visitation 1 hour prior from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow in Ray Cemetery in Monroe.
