David W. Mayhew, 39, of Decatur, IN, lost his battle with brain cancer, but began his eternal life in heaven on Thursday, September 20, 2018. He was born on April 23, 1979, in Plymouth, IN, the son of James and Diane (Tucker) Gall.
On July 6, 2002, he married Beth A. Engle and they had 16 years together. They were blessed with 2 awesome children, Devin, 15 and Phoebe, 14.
Dave loved his family and sharing his love of the Lord and they were members of Hope Missionary Church in Bluffton.
He enjoyed baseball and keeping the books for his son’s various baseball teams. An avid Chicago Cubs fan, he was thrilled he was able to see them win the 2016 World Series. He also liked to bowl and play video games.
He is also survived by his mother, Diane Gall of Wabash; his sister, Anna (Aaron) Seibold of Wabash; his mother-in-law, Peggy Miracle of Decatur; his sister-in-law, Cynthia (Tim) Reinhart of Decatur. He was also the favorite uncle to Kaemon & Alexis Burton-Seibold and Austin, Thomas, & Tiffany Reinhart.
A Celebration of Dave’s Life will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 25, 2018, at Haggard-Sefton-Hirschy & Zelt Funeral Home, with calling 1 hour prior to the service from 5:00 – 6:00 p.m. Please feel free to dress in sports apparel in honor of Dave.
Officiating will be Pastor Gary Aupperle and burial will take place in the Decatur Cemetery on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m.
In lieu of flower memorials may be made to Beth Mayhew for Devin & Phoebe’s College Fund.
