David Bowers, 61, of Elwood, IN, passed away on Saturday, October 13, 2018 at St. Vincent Mercy Hospital in Elwood. He was born on November 11, 1956, in Adams County, IN, the son of the late Edward J. and Mildred L. (Bobay) Bowers.
He worked as the store manager for Ace Hardware in Tipton and he was an avid outdoorsman.
David was a founding member of Team Bowers and was a former Adams Central Assistant Wrestling Coach.
He is survived by 3 brothers, Ray (Dee) Bowers of Hebron, Charlie (Carol) Bowers and Jim (Janet) Bowers both of Monroe; 5 sisters, Edna (Dave) Nieport of Dayton, OH, Donna Smith, Janet Bentz, Jean (Larry) Braun, and Ann (Greg) Andrews all of Decatur; numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews, whom he adored.
David was preceded in death by a brother, Russell Bowers, brothers-in-law, Ron Smith and Steve Bentz; and four nephews, Tim Bowers, Scott Smith, Art Templeton, and Paul Phillips.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 18, 2018 at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, with Father David Ruppert officiating. Visitation 2 hours prior from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. in the St. Mary’s Parish Hall and a reciting of the Holy Rosary will be at 4:30 p.m.
A Committal will take place in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery on Friday, October 19, 2018 at 11:00 a.m.
Memorials may be made to Masses.
