Salvador R. “Sal” Jauregui, 91, of Decatur, IN, passed away on Saturday, December 23, 2017 at Adams Woodcrest. He was born on December 28, 1925, in Berne, IN, the son of the late Emmanuel and Antonia (Ortiz) Jauregui. On November 8, 1947, he married Lupe Corral.
He was a parishioner of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Decatur. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Msgr. J.J. Seimetz Council 864 and the American Legion Post 43.
Sal worked as a Supervisor for American Hoist for nearly 40 years. He served his country in the United States Navy and was also a Reserve Deputy for the Adams County Sheriff’s Department.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Lupe C. Jauregui; 2 sons, Charles D. (Mary) Jauregui and Michael L. Jauregui; 2 daughters, Teresa A. (John) Mere and Amy L. (Edward) Stove; a brother, Joseph R. Jauregui; a sister, Angela (Luke) Beitler all of Decatur; 6 grandchildren, Phil (Tamyra) Jauregui, Jason (Kristi) Jauregui, Sarah (Charley) Omlor, Jenni Mere, Cameron (Katie) Mere, Brittany (Troy) Gamble; 10 great grandchildren.
Sal was preceded in death by a great granddaughter, Hazel Omlor and a sister, Joan Calderon.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church on Friday, December 29, 2017, with calling 2 hours prior from 9:00 -11:00 a.m. in the St. Mary’s Parish Hall. Officiating will be Fr. Bob J. Lengerich.
Burial will take place in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, with Military Graveside Rites by the American Legion Post 43 Color Guard.
Memorials may be made to the American Legion Post 43 Color Guard.
