Anna Joyce Martin, 92, of Decatur, IN passed away Saturday, February 24, 2018 at Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home in Ft. Wayne. Joyce was born in Huntington County on November 15, 1925 to the late Fred and Minnie (Ness) Meyer. On May 3, 1947, Joyce married Gerald J. Martin; he preceded her in death on February 22, 2013.

Joyce was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church and its Rosary Society. She was also involved as a volunteer at St. Joseph Catholic School and the Red Cross Bloodmobile. She was an RN at Adams County Memorial Hospital and Community Care Center and retired January 1, 1987 from nursing. Joyce was a member of the St. Joseph Hospital School of Nursing Alumni Association. She received her nursing education through the military Cadet program.

Joyce touched so many lives in her work as a nurse, and her kindness and generosity to those in need. She was a wonderful example of the spirit of giving. She loved her family and treasured her grandchildren and great-grandchildren who gave her such joy. She had a very special group of friends who were her "breakfast club" and "card partners". 

Survivors include her three sons, John P. (Connie R.) Martin of Kokomo, IN, Robert J. (Barbara) Martin of Terre Haute, IN and Roger A. (Linda) Martin of Palm Harbor, FL; two daughters, Anne T. Liechty and Beth A. Ralston both of Louisville, KY; 12 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by 3 brothers and a sister.

Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Friday, March 2, 2018 at Haggard-Sefton-Hirschy & Zelt Funeral Home. Reciting of the Holy Rosary will be prior to visitation at 3:20 p.m.

A 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial is on Saturday, March 3rd at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, with calling prior from 9:00-10:00 a.m. at the St. Mary’s Parish Hall. Deacon Jerry Kohrman will be officiating. A luncheon will be held directly after mass in the Parish Hall followed by burial in the St. Rose Catholic Cemetery in Monroeville.

Memorials may be given to St. Joseph Catholic School Tuition Assistance Program or St. Vincent DePaul Society.(Decatur Chapter).
